Oh wow! So much has happened!! There will be a flurry of post tonight to update everything. But, I'm in Stockholm and haven't slowed down until I got here.
Cliff notes: Weekend in Zurich was amazing! Paris was awesome! And Stockholm is GORGEOUS!
Look for more tonight! I'm going to try and stay more on top of keeping everyone updated with more than just my IG pictures.

Workshops and Zurich
Hey!
I’ve been going since I woke up Friday morning, and it’s been awesome!! Friday I did a photography workshop, was taken around Zurich by a resident super sweet little lady, then wandered Zurich myself a little and then took a self defense workshop!

This is Froumunster Catholic Church. So, my understanding is that the men/ army was away from Zurich and the enemy army came to invade. So the women took their cookware to the hills and basically made camp sounds to make the enemy think the army was home. The enemy left and the women saved Zurich. I don’t remember the years, or the enemy, but they built this church in honor of the women. I got to go in the crypt!!
This is the Angel of the Zurich main station. They have this GIGANTIC open space and have dances regularly.
These are from Sprigli and are AMAZING! The name translates to “fancy hamburger” and they’re basically two small meringues with filling sandwiches between..... I would come back JUST for these!
A quick video of the view and proof I survived my first excursion on my own Friday.... also, I don’t speak a single word of German. So finding my way back was amazingly easy with google.
Alright, I hope you enjoyed my first day in Zurich, I’ll post the weekend seperately.

Travel and Arrival
Hallo from Zurich!
Two flights totaling 10 hours and 35 min in the air and 15 hours and 19 min total travel time from take off in Pensacola to landing in Zurich, I arrived and made it to my destination with family friends in Zurich! I spent the afternoon just relaxing and accidentally took a nap, and FaceTimed my kiddos. It's after 1 am and I'm about to go to bed and hopefully be up to spend some time doing things tomorrow... either wandering around the village or if I get up in time, taking part in an event!
Well, I wanted to keep this short and just let everyone know that this adventure has officially begun! I'm in Europe.
Good night world!

Writing the things
I heard back from Sweden today!!! My prospectus, the proposal for my thesis, is approved!!!
This is huge, considering there was still a chance if having to change everything including my topic even though I leave in 5 days. But it’s approved, so let me breathe the biggest sigh of relief!

Introductions
Hi! Hello! This is a brand new blog for me, so... Welcome!! I guess I'll just start off with a little about myself and the formation of this blog.
I'm a single mom with two kiddos, Iz and T. I'm also a Historical Archaeology graduate student... so... as of recently I've been traveling... a LOT. Well, my stepdad suggested a blog because I do Instagram and Facebook, and I journal... but a blog would give my kids, family, and friends free access to basically a travel journal of sorts while I'm gone. So, here we are.
I'm leaving to go do my thesis fieldwork in 27 days (EEKK!!!) and I'll be bouncing around Scandinavia for two months working on that. My thesis is looking at nålbinding textiles and how they have changed over time (there's a much more formal academic way to say that, but basically, that's what I'm currently working on). I've been invited to look at the textiles that were recovered with the 17th-century Swedish warship Vasa and asked to help document them. I've also gotten permission to visit several sites and access materials in and around Scandinavia. So, this blog will be following that adventure.
I really hope you enjoy following along on my travels, I'll try and update regularly... but I'm not quite sure how regularly is enough. So, if you wouldn't mind dropping a comment and letting me know how often you'd like to hear from me, I'd really appreciate it!
Thanks for joining me!
